Professional Referrals
Collaborative behavior support for dogs and their families
Mindful K9 Training welcomes referrals from veterinarians, veterinary behaviorists, trainers, groomers, rescue organizations, and other pet care professionals. I provide individualized behavior support for dogs experiencing fear, anxiety, reactivity, aggression, handling sensitivities, and other behavior concerns.
I value a collaborative approach and, when appropriate, work alongside the dog's veterinary and professional care team to help provide thoughtful, coordinated support for both dog and family.
When to Refer
A referral may be helpful when a dog's behavior is affecting their well-being, their families quality of life, or their ability to safely navigate everyday situations

Reactivity toward dogs, people, or the environment

Aggression or concerning behavior toward people or other animals

Fear, anxiety, or difficulty recovering from stressful events

Handling, grooming, or veterinary care sensitivities

Difficulty settling, regulating arousal, or coping with everyday life

Behavior changes that may have a medical or pain component and are being treated by a veterinarian, or may warrant veterinary evaluation

Dogs currently under the care of a veterinary behaviorist

Behavior concerns that have not improved with traditional training alone

Complex cases where additional behavior support may be beneficial.
What Happens After You Refer
Once a referral is received, I will contact the client directly to discuss their concerns and determine the appropriate next steps. Behavior services are individualized based on the dog, family, environment, and presenting concerns.
When appropriate and with the client's permission, I am happy to collaborate with the referring veterinarian, veterinary behaviorist, or other professionals. Behavior reports and relevant follow-up updates can be shared to help support continuity of care and keep everyone informed of the dog's progress.
